I only run in Nike shoes on the road for two reasons. First, Nike shoes are awesome. Their shoe selection is second to none. Second, Nike is very generous in their support of the Fleet Feet Racing Team in Huntsville.
Racing Flats
I only recently started wearing racing flats, but I'm glad I made the transition. Something about lacing up a light and minimal pair of shoes just makes me feel faster. The racer of choice for me is the Nike Lunaracer. This shoe truly is able to go from the 5k to the marathon. It's super soft but very responsive and unbelievably light. I've run my 5k, 10k, 15k, and marathon PRs in these bad boys. They're pretty good for fast repeats, too. It's also easier for me to get to the track when these are sitting next to my running clothes in the morning.

And don't they just look cool, too? I really look forward to putting those shoes on. And, some attractive young lady yelled "Hey, cool shoes!" at me while running the Albany marathon. They make you both faster and sexier.
Everyday Trainer
My go to shoe is the Nike LunarGlide+ 3. I liked the first LunarGlide. I really liked the update, the LunarGlide+ 2, so much that I was wary of the LunarGlide+ 3. No worries, the LunarGlide+ 3 is even better for my foot. It's very slightly heavier than the first two iterations of the LunarGlide, but it's a good use of weight. The extra support on the upper and the slightly roomier toe box are perfect. It may be a small thing, but the tread is better and doesn't collect rocks like the first two versions. This is also a very versatile shoe for everyone from the neutral runner to the overpronator (like me).
Chicks also dig this shoe, too. I've had more than one lady compliment these shoes. Nike knows cool. This is the best everyday trainer that I've ever owned. I use it for long runs and recovery runs and anytime I want to look better while running.
Barefoot Shoes
Everyone has an opinion on the minimalist footwear craze. My opinion is no better than anyone else's, but I'll share it here. Making the transition to minimal shoes has greatly benefited my running. I transitioned very gradually. As a result, my feet are stronger, my form is better, and my running is more efficient. I don't treat running in minimal shoes as the end all and be all of my running. My goals for running almost always include running faster or running farther. I use minimal shoes to help to that end. I probably run 50% or more of my miles in these barefoot shoes, the Nike Free 3.0.

The Nike Free 3.0 is quite simply the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. Period. I love running in this shoe. I would run in this shoe more, but I can run faster in the LunaRacers and I sometimes crave the foot support that the LunarGlide provides. I run all kinds of miles in the Nike Free 3.0. I've done track workouts, general aerobic runs, and speed work in these shoes. The free 3.0 is my go to shoe for tempo runs. I have done long runs in this shoe, but I prefer to run long in something with more cushioning. They're also great for just lounging around and they're great post-race shoes. And when I travel, these shoes consume almost NO suitcase space, so I'll do whatever workout I have planned in the Free 3.0 while on the road.
